Reaching the decision to undergo elective surgery is never easy, but at Advanced Cosmetic Surgery & Laser Center, the entire staff has a goal to make every procedure one their patients will actually love. “It may sound unusual,” says Dr. Jon E. Mendelsohn, “but we really feel our patients are going to enjoy this experience.”
The facility offers benefits one might expect at a major cosmetic surgery – a calm, inviting atmosphere, state-of-the-art equipment and well-trained staff, but Dr. Mendelsohn and his team have taken steps to deliver the traditional cosmetic surgery experience to an increasingly tech-savvy clientele.
The practice made a splash a few years ago when it introduced a web feature called “True Selfies: True Stories of Dreams Coming True.” Here, the entire patient experience, from consultation through the “reveal” has been documented, giving prospective patients real insight into what their experience might be like. Dr. Mendelsohn says feedback about this project was overwhelmingly positive from the start. “It’s an authentic look at what this is like,” he explains, “and an opportunity to hear honest talk about what someone’s fears might be when making these decisions.”
In 2019, Advanced will see the seeds planted in the True Selfies project grow into an even more ambitious undertaking through its newly relaunched Cosmetic Division, Studio A, which will include a dedicated professional studio for producing more video content aimed at patient education and the patient experience. In addition to this new endeavor, the Studio A cosmetic division also focuses on both non-surgical and cosmetic treatments like Botox delivered by a team of professionals that includes Nurse Practitioner Hope Scweitzer Merz, Physician’s Assistant Karen Whitney, and Registered Nurses Mickey Oehler and Roxanne Wise.
Dr. Mendelsohn says the content creation taking place through Studio A is all about taking some of the anxiety out of the cosmetic surgery process through education and authentic sharing. He and his team are creating short videos about procedures like rhinoplasty and breast augmentation, giving patients a space to share their own stories, and introducing the audience to the Advanced Cosmetic Surgery Center experience, including the facility’s unique online information and communication portal.
When patients access their information through the portal, they can keep track of returning client rewards points, schedule appointments, look through their medical history, and even share photos or videos with the staff when they have a question about a recent or upcoming procedure.
Dr. Mendelsohn’s hope is that prospective and existing patients will keep coming to Advanced because they feel comfortable, excited, and self-confident about their decisions. “It’s why we do what we do,” he explains. “It really means a lot to us that our patients are happy.”
