The 15th annual Coldwell Banker West Shell Redlegs Run was held on Saturday, May 14 at Great American Ballpark. Close to 3,300 runners and walkers participated, raising over $150,000 for the Reds Community Fund. There was a 5K, 10K, a one-mile Family Run and Gapper’s Kids Fun Run. All runners received a race medal, t-shirt and one view-level ticket for the Reds vs. Cleveland Indians game on Wednesday.
The Reds Community Fund operates outreach initiatives. Programs include the Reds Rookie Success League, a free co-ed character-building program for 6-12 year olds in Cincinnati, Butler County, Clermont County, Louisville and Dayton; Reds Youth Baseball and Softball Funding Program, which underwrites expenses for more than 750 inner-city teams through Reds Country, and the Field Renovation Program, which has helped restore over 360 baseball and softball fields, including the P&G Cincinnati MLB Urban Youth Academy, Youth Baseball “Match” and Greater Cincinnati RBI programs. More than 45,000 kids and coaches will be connected to the Reds Community Fund in 2016.
Following the race, a festive party atmosphere was enjoyed by runners and spectators. Food was provided by LaRosa’s, Skyline Chili and Kroger. The 2016 Redlegs Run was once again a roaring success and a fun, fan-filled day for all.
