The Health Collaborative Hosts Town Hall on Human Trafficking
Published on

The Health Collaborative will host a Town Hall on Human Trafficking at their offices in Norwood 2100 Sherman Ave. Cincinnati, Ohio 45212 on Wednesday, June 22, 2016.

The Town Hall will follow a class developed specifically for healthcare providers on ways to identify and address suspected trafficking cases encountered on the job. This topic is particularly relevant, as there is currently a bill proposed to the Senate and House of Representatives that would make it mandatory for healthcare providers to be trained on how to identify and support trafficking victims.

A panel discussion will include perspectives from Rep. Denise Driehaus, Councilwoman Yvette Simpson, a representative from End Slavery Cincinnati, and a representative from The Cincinnati Police Department regarding barriers in identification and next steps for human trafficking victims in our community.

In preparation for the class, “Human Trafficking: What Health Care Providers Should Know,” staff from The Health Collaborative interviewed Cincinnati Police Department Special Officer, Nate Young about his role in combatting trafficking in this community. The video of their interview will be featured during the class.

To RSVP or questions about the Town Hall on June 22 should be emailed to Emily Kimball at ekimball@healthcollab.org
