Check out LEAD Cincinnati's February profile of the Lindner Center of HOPE here!
Lindner Center of HOPE’s patient-centered, scientifically-advanced care for individuals suffering from mental illness is world-class, and so are the its events.
“So many people still don’t want to talk about mental illness. They may feel they don’t know enough or are afraid to talk about it,” says the Lindner Center’s chief operating officer Brian Owens. “But coming to our events is a great way to learn about what we do at the Lindner Center of HOPE and about the impact of mental illness.”
It’s a subject that, while not always discussed, can impact anyone. “Mental illness doesn’t discriminate. It can impact anyone, anytime, any place, from ages two to 95, any culture, any income level,” says Jennifer Pierson, senior director of marketing and outreach. “We want to bring people together to understand that mental illness is not a weakness and that help is available.”
High Hopes Auxiliary luncheon, Showering You with Hope
Another great opportunity to learn about Lindner Center of HOPE is the annual High Hopes Auxiliary luncheon, Showering You with Hope. This year’s event takes place Tuesday, April 21 at Cincinnati Country Club.
Not only is this an inspiring event for all who attend, but the proceeds help patients who might not otherwise be able to afford treatment.
“The luncheon will help fund the Helping Hands Program, a program that benefits those with the most urgent need for help,” says Hope Schmidt, the High Hopes Auxiliary corresponding secretary. “This really resonates with our volunteer members to be able to be a part of providing HOPE to people with mental health issues.”
Guests will hear a presentation from Liza Long, a writer, educator, mental health advocate and mother of four who wrote “The Price of Silence: A Mom’s Perspective on Mental Illness.”
Each year’s event proves to be a moving experience. “Last year, you could hear a pin drop in the room, people were so captivated,” says Schmidt. “It was motivating, empowering and inspiring. We are confident this year’s event will be just as impactful.”
In addition to the presentation and gourmet lunch, the event includes a silent auction with the opportunity to bid on unique prizes and experiences and a raffle. “This is a great way to support the cause and be with your friends,” says Schmidt. “It’s an afternoon filled with socializing, networking, learning and fun.”
