Cancer Support Community of Greater Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky held a fabulous benefit on May 26 at The Transept, one of Over-the-Rhine’s newest shining stars. The doors opened at 5:30 with marketplace shopping. Twenty percent of sales from the marketplace partners went to support Cancer Support Community. Wine tasting and culinary bites were available throughout the evening. A silent auction was in progress which included items such as an in-home delicious five course meal for up to six people with award winning chef Jean-Robert de Cavel, a Napa Valley trip for four and many other equally enticing items. The interesting and always fun fashion show finished out the event. “Shoe Guys” meandered all evening, carrying trays of beautiful bracelets, other pieces of jewelry and of course, shoes.

The mission of Cancer Support Community is to ensure that all people impacted by cancer are empowered by knowledge, strengthened by action, and sustained by community. Backed by evidence that the best cancer care includes social and emotional support, CSC offers programs and services free of charge to individuals and families through professionally led support groups, educational sessions, healthy lifestyles and nutrition classes, social activities, and decisional counseling. These programs are research based and designed to complement conventional medical care, enhance quality of life, improve recovery, and strengthen survivor care.

Michelle Johnson, Executive Director of Cancer Support Community, stated “Heels on. Glasses up - a toast, to our survivors, families and friends. You are remarkable and brave. You inspire us: So no one has to face cancer alone.”
