A Rustic Fall Wedding

A Rustic Fall Wedding

Jon and Mitchell met eight years ago through mutual friends while attending a retreat in Southern California. The two hit it off immediately and have been together ever since.

Jon proposed after the two vacationed in South Carolina over Labor Day weekend in 2014.

“We have this thing about seashells and he unbeknownst to me picked up a seashell. When we got home after the weekend, he sat me down, pulled out the seashell, started talking about it and proposed – it was just amazing,” says Mitchell. “Even though we aren’t from here (Cincinnati), we’ve made this our home. We bought an 165 year old historic house, so we wanted to get married here.”

Jon and Mitchell were married on October 24, 2015 at the home of Neil and Honi Cohen. The couple’s rustic wedding captured the laid-back spirit they share and emulated the historic home they redid together.

“There was a moment in the ceremony that we literally lost it because we’re looking at all of our guests and all of our guests had candles,” Mitchell says. “There was a part where there was a reading and verbiage about remembering those who are with us in spirit because I lost most of my family. Everyone lifted their candles and it was the most moving moment.”
