Mavis Linnemann-Clark has traveled around the world. And her company, the Delish Dish Catering & Events, brings international influences to Greater Cincinnati brides and grooms.
“I wanted to do food from around the world with a gourmet twist. I saw this need for high-end catering that wasn’t just meat and potatoes,” she says.
The former freelance journalist has lived in Philadelphia, New York and Italy, and traveled to Japan, Africa and Europe. Trained by the prestigious Kendall College Culinary School in Chicago, Linnemann-Clark moved back to her native Northern Kentucky in 2011 and started her business in 2012.
“I wanted to do events for people who would take their idea of food and elevate it,” she says.
All menus are tailored to each client, whether the wedding guests total 10 or 500.
“We don’t have traditional packages. People ask, ‘What is it going to cost?’ and I say, ‘What are you going to eat?’ ”
Linnemann-Clark starts with the couple’s dream menu and tailors it to their budget and cravings. As a bonus, she gives each bride-to-be a Made by Mavis artisan jam or jelly at their first meeting, then a jam and jelly basket on her wedding day. Delish Dish also has gluten-free plates and vegan options starting in the fall.
“I want everything to run smoothly,” she says. “Our max is two weddings per day so we can really focus on our clients.”
The Delish Dish has catered weddings at a variety of venues, including Rhinegeist, the American Sign Museum and the Contemporary Arts Center, but will go “wherever people hire us.” And in 2018, Linnemann-Clark hopes to open her own event space in Covington.
