Anisha and Ashwin were married at Drees Pavilion in Devou Park in Covington, Kentucky. The wedding was an outdoor fusion of a modern elegant wedding with a traditional Indian ceremony. The engagement took place at Anisha’s favorite Cincinnati location – the Cincinnati Zoo, right next to the baby giraffes.
Anisha and Ashwin worked closely with local vendors to make their dreams reality. The couple worked with Glendale Florist, Framester, Mister Softee’s Ice Cream Truck, Gomez Salsa, Dessertworks Cakery, Mango Tree and more.
“We had an excellent experience working with our local vendors. Most were coordinated through our amazing wedding planner, Nidhi Bedi with A Bride’s Mafia, and we were very happy with their service and the final result,” says Anisha.
At the reception, rather than asking for gifts, Anisha and Ashwin asked their guests to donate to one of two charities – Pratham or the American Heart Association. This gesture allowed the couple to raise more than $20,000 for charity.
The couple had a definite focus on conservation, using only recycled paper products for paper-based décor and stationary. In addition, the couple chose Anita Dongre to create their wedding attire due to her green production methods and equal employment. The couple also wore TOMS shoes, a brand that donates one pair of shoes to a child in need for each pair of shoes that is purchased.
Anisha and Ashwin celebrated their honeymoon with a trip to Thailand, including hiking, cooking lessons, and even volunteering at an elephant sanctuary. The couple is currently long-distance with Anisha in Cincinnati and Ashwin in Morgantown, West Virginia. They look forward to finally be able to be living together come 2018.
